HOW WAS IT LOVE?
May 28, 2012 by PhotoPoetics™
How was it love
When
I rarely
Put myself in your path
To encounter
The warmth
That
Radiated
From
The glow
Of
Your presence

How was it love
When
Without
My awareness
Your wholeness
Became broken
And
I
In oblivion
Failed to sense
That
You
Breathe
No more
How was it love
When
I lost you
Never knowing
That
You
Ceased to cling
To this world
As
It raced
Through its orbit
Around
A star
Whose brightness
Could not
Outshine
You

To have lost before ever having truly loved and then become aware of the brightness of the light that has gone out! Heart-wrenching!
granbee,
Unfortunately this was written to honour circumstances that are much more tragic than unfulfilled love. I really did lose someone who was a part of my life for a very long time, but sadly I took it for granted that would always be the case.
Beautifully expressed; thank-you for sharing this.
Thanks Colleen!
“How was it love?” Amazing, I’m sure you know it already but you have a gift. 🙂
Thank you!
That’s an incredible compliment!
So eloquent. I lost my son, and knew you were writing about loss. But it also hit me because in my grief I have withdrawn from others that I care about . . . “how is it love when I rarely put myself in your path . . .”
Do you mind if I “pin” it on my grief and loss board at pinterest?
Donna,
I am truly sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the depth of your grief.
I hope you found some small comfort in this piece of writing.
Feel free to pin it on your board.
I’m sending you positive energy to support you as you mourn.
Tricia
