CAPTIVITY
October 7, 2012 by PhotoPoetics™
Just a glance
Allows one to see
Through
To the depths
Of
His ancestral memories
Where
He holds
A slight recollection
Of
A time
When
Communities swam
To the floor of dark waters

Unaware
Of
The nets of captivity
That
Would be cast
To scoop
Separate
Then
Submerge
Unwitting generations
In to
Artificial bodies of water
Where
They are now
Condemned
To collide
With
The clear cramped walls
They circle
In crazed attempts
To return
To
Distant
Home
Seas

Love this 🙂
A sadness indeed – humans often believe they have the “God” given right to control the environment and creatures around them. Very thought provoking.
Really love how you give voice to their current condition…very nicely done.
Very well expressed as ever, Tricia! Fine written poem and a joy to read.
Ciao, Francina
I feel sorry for my fish and will never get more.
Find myself waiting for them to pass.
Sad really
Nice write!

Thanks Eric.
I’m sorry to have ruined having fish as pets for you.
I wish I could have freed this one the day I saw it in the market.
