The church of my heart
Is a sacred space
Constructed of fragile glass
And
Fortified
With protective walls of brick
It features steeples
That scrape the sky
While reaching
For the truth
I crave
My church
Requires
No religion
Except
Faith in me
To gain entry
To worship the beauty of life
Feel the purity of love
And
Be warmed
By the eternal light
Of
My open soul
I patiently wait
For a congregation
To fill my pews
To listen to the story
Of
My creation
And
Sing
The joyous hymns
From
My heart

Careless
Is a five year old
Going out to play in new shoes
And
Returning
With them
Covered in mud
It is not
The cavalier manner
We apply
To
The habitual
Telling of untruths
It is not
The ease
With which
Some swoop in
To fragment
The bonds
Of
Newly minted affections
It is not
The promises
We make
With crossed fingers
While waiting
For
All expectation
To fade
Careless
Claims no devotions
And
Is a blunder
Only children
Can
Afford to make
