Thoughts of you
Woke me
By gently rocking me
Like sheer kisses
Lifting the morning haze
And
Flashes of how it felt
To lay
In your embrace
Then
My breath
Broke through
The pleasure of the moment
And
The cracks of new brightness
Exposed the fraud
Of the shadows
Because
You
Were
Not here

To hide
But
I see you
Buckling
Becoming
Bent
By the heaviness
Beneath the weight
Of
What others believe
You should be
While
Silently
Struggling
And
Steadily
Splintering
You separate
Your shielded self
Skillfully severing it
To stand apart
Naked
Numb
Not knowing
We all share
The need
To
Be seen
