Grain by grain
Mountains grow
Steady
Strong
Still
Settled
In centuries’ greatness
Protectively
Guarding valleys
Against the pressures
Of
Perilous winds
Pelting rains
And
Parching rays
Like
The protective presence
Of
Mothers shielding their young
Grain by grain
A life fragments
While
Waiting
Wishing
Wanting
The surety
Of
Such a steadfast love
